Natural gas is part of the fossil or classic fuel group. Natural gas is a blessed source of energy, which we all need. Fortunately, our country has natural gas, and its own production provides approx. 70% of the country’s consumption needs, the difference of 30% being necessary to be ensured from imports.
Natural gas quality
Natural gas must comply with the minimum quality conditions stipulated in the Technical Agreement for the exploitation of commercial delivery/takeover points and in Annex 5 of the Regulation for the measurement of natural gas quantities traded in Romania.

Gas Market
Romania has the largest natural gas market in Central Europe and was the first country to use natural gas for industrial purposes. The volume of production and consumption reached the value of 30 billion cubic meters annually in the 70s-80s, as a result of government policy.
The natural gas sector in Romania is a complex one, within which the following operate:
- Producers
- Storage system operators
- Transporters
- Distributors
- Suppliers
- Traders
- Eligible consumers: industrial and non-industrial
- Transit system operator
- Market operator (Market Operation Dispatcher)
- Operators of centralized gas trading markets
- Importers
In order to ensure an organized framework regarding the fair and non-discriminatory allocation of domestic and imported natural gas, the Market Operator was established, organized within the Bucharest Natural Gas Market Operation Dispatcher, within the Structure of the National Natural Gas Transport Company TRANSGAZ S.A. Mediaș.
